Paint comin off above tailpipe?

Paint comin off above tailpipe?
I recently bought tailpipe extenders for my 1987 corvette. I did not notice when I put the extenders on. However, now theyhave been on for a few weeks and i just noticed that paint is coming off right above the outside tailpipes. I'm wondering if this is because of the new tips or if this happens normally with just the stock tailpipes on the car. I'm also wondering what I could do to fix the problem with the paint. The car only has 13,000 miles on it.
