My car drones like hell with mufflers. I'm wondering if anybody noticed a change in the drone RPM range or volume inside the car with muffler eliminators.
If my car is going to be loud inside, it might as well sound good outside!
I think probably corvette central exhaust. That's the only place I've found them. There are also some from corvettesouth. But I'm not sure the quality. They are more expensive but just look cool haha
Are they L98/LT1 specific? I had Pacesetters on mine but they rusted out and I'm looking to replace them. I'm not seeing them on Corvette central's website.
This is a C4 specific term.-) C5 forum guys say they call them straight pipes.
IMHO, this stuff is only good if you are interested in scaring people and sounding car alarms and such. I agree with the posters about old/loud correlation. "I am too old to put up with this s**t.", quoting from Lethal Weapon so you know how old I am.
Actually they're quieter than the Billy Boats and the Magnaflow's I've heard. I've never set off a car alarm that didn't have an already obnoxious sensitivity setting and the only time it scares someone is if you stomp on it coming from an idle because it idles really quietly. I've asked my neighbor if he's ever had issues with me leaving my shop with it and he says he's never heard it when he was inside.
My setup is just the stock exhaust with some C6 tips welded onto some pipes done by a local exhaust shop. This cost all of $60, best bang for the buck I've had.

Just installed the muffler eliminators on my '85 last weekend.
Sounds is good, but tips were not square (using a replacement Walker Y pipe - so that may have contributed to the tip alignment issue somewhat).
Had local shop cut off and square up the alignment of the tips (rear view angles were not square and level on the LT1 tips and tip projection out the back fascia was uneven one side vs. the other) and now all is good.
Sound with cat is not too loud at all.
Added pic (taken from camera phone so kinda blurry):

I was surprised, along with my wife, neighbors and everyone else, at how quiet it was at idle with the stock cat on my 85 when I installed the muffler eliminators. When I changed the cat to an aftermarket one, which was smaller, the sound grew a bit louder and more throaty.
My tips were separate from the pipe so alignment wasn't too bad. The problem I had was making up the difference from the Walker y-pipe to the muffler eliminators. The y-pipe was about 3 inches short on each side. I still need to get it to my buddy to weld it all up and ditch the clamps.
I had them on my 94 with stock cats and resonator.
When I first started it I thought that it was really loud, but over the next 50k miles I found out I liked it a lot. It has a very nice deep rumble at idle and low throttle, but when you step on it it gets quite loud. If you want you can keep it quiet and not too obnoxious with light throttle.
I sold my 94 a couple of months ago and I kind of miss the sound.
Mine were Corvette Central's. They seemed to be about the best I looked at, but take some time and strip and repaint them. They are prone to rusting through the paint (on the LT1 tips) quite quickly.
Those muffler eliminators look great. Will likely order mine this weekend after reading these posts.... Any issues with not having enough back pressure?
Really happy with mine (which I got from Corvette Central). Nice sound and very affordable... didn't really add any power that I noticed, but definitely the best bang for the buck from an exhaust-sound perspective.

Installed a magnaflow high flow converter, the CC "Y" with a cross-over and the CC eliminators -love the sound so much that I never even turn on the radio anymore!
