What, do you think a Vette is a Truck   No, I just clean the ^@(*@# out of behind the wheels... I don't want to say they won't look good, but I simply cant imagine them on a Red Vette
I had the black ones that looked awful, so I made my own home grown solution...
I went to the home depot and got some clear plexi and cut my own with a band saw. I used the originals as templates and sanded all the edges smooth.. you can barely see them and it protects just as good.. my sills are stone chip free after 2 years of use...
I would rather run nothing but I can't stand to think what my sills would be like with them
I have the fitted black ones on the front and rear. They are a godsend for keeping the fenders clean. This especially goes for nights at the drag strip. You REALLY get an idea of how much the keep from getting on your car. I used to do a burnout and the entire lower feder would be covered with molten rubber. Not just a very small area and the rest cakes onto the guard. :)
I got the clear acrylic ones from MAD. I buy (2) sets a year so when they get too chipped I throw them out and put on a new set. After spending all that $$$$ for paint I am not going to take the risk of chipping up the side of my car. Anyway the clear ones are not noticeable and are real easy to take off when I am at a show.
That's what I was thinking. I may be forced to get them when I get my new tires/rims. I will worry more about paint chips behind the wheels than anything.

Yep, you really get an idea of how big a job those mud flaps do when you got rubber everywhere except the paint. Makes clean up alot easier.
I got really tired of worrying about how bad the paint was getting ripped up on the rocker panels....so bought the Altec fitted for front and rear. HUGE difference in the amount of crap...love em...and I like the agressive look of them. PLUS, other people behind you love em. I just wish more people used them so it would cut down on the amount of stuff hitting my car and making rock chips.
I suppose if you live where it never rains, or never gets muddy...and if all you have to deal with is clean dry pavement...then they wouldn't be necessary. But for the rest of us...if you love it, protect it.
I wouldnt put them on either. I personally dont think the paint behind the rear tires is a problem its the edgr of the fendre/rocker that chips but i havent seen any on well kept vettes. They sell clear like static cling covers that you cant really see. If i was real concerned about the paint down there id get them.

They don't look that bad and you need them if you are a racer. Keeps half the rubber off my quarters.
Depends on which ones you use.
I have Altecs on the '95 and they scratched the hell out of the paint.
I have the Mid America mud flaps on the '93, they don't even touch the paint.
