Yes, the early 90's yellow was more of a lemon yellow, and comp yellow is a brighter yellow. I'll see if I can dig up two pics. I had a comp yellow 90 (repainted) for a while, so I just need a pic of the other yellow. Although that guy CJ had a 92 Convertible that looked competition yellow to me when I saw it?? Maybe it was repainted? I know the 91 code 35 is a lighter yellow.

Ok, I found two pics. The first one is 91 yellow, and second is 93 yellow. I could not find a 92, so maybe this does not help you at all, but the 91 and 92 codes are both 35. You would think it was the same?

Oh stop it, you know I was just using Lemon to describe the color. To me, yours looks more like Comp Yellow? But still code 35?? This is odd.

even though the code ( 35 ) is the same the color in not the same. im not 100% sure but i was told the 86 was one color, 87 to 91 was another color and 92 and up was another color. they had trouble with the 86 color and had to repaint under waranty most 86 yellow cars. alot of them were painted the 87 color.

Here are the C4 yellow codes. If no code, no yellow that year.

1984
1985
1986 : Yellow (35)
1987 : Yellow (35)
1988 : Yellow (35)
1989
1990 : Competition Yellow (53)
1991 : Yellow (35)
1992 : Yellow (35)
1993 : Competition Yellow (53)
1994 : Competition Yellow (53)
1995 : Competition Yellow (53)
1996 : Competition Yellow (53)

Every code 35 (Yellow) is the same. GM could not get code 53 (Comp. Yellow) to match well it's first year so 35 came back for two years. Then 53 was reintroduced. :)

Mine was repainted using PPGA paint matching the paint code. So I was told when I bought it. The guy I bought it from was the paint and body instructor at Texas State Technical College and they painted it for a class project.
