New plan: Sell vette after prom. Move down to florida with grandparents. Get Job at a Mall radioshack or somewhere. Use vette money to finsh private pilots license br summer is out. Really tough call. But i think it is for the best. I can always get a vette after college or whenever. But the private pilots license is something that could get me a job where i could actually afford the vette. Let me know what you guys think :(

PS
Went flying today for 1.7 hours solo =) it was awesome
That's a tough personal call. I think if you can get a fair price get rid of it. (the tough part). If you have to give it away you might as well use it as your driver if you don't already.
Future is more important then the Vette at this time in your life. You will have plenty of time for a new and better Corvette with a good paying job. Think about how many guys your age can say the even rode in Vette. Yet you have owned one.
At least you are ambitious and mature, very rare in guys our age (by our I mean 18-24 or so). Good luck in your venture. I would say it is more important to have a good job that will allow you many toys than to keep what you've got an settle for less than you're capable of.
Sounds like a plan to me. To be on the safer side, you might actually check out the job situation here through friends or newspapers. Sometimes there isn't much available in a starter type job with all the retired and military looking for extra income.

Re: Selling? (flyinace2000)
Where are you flying out of? What planes? Was this a first cross country?
Flown out of Linden, Morristown, Kupper. Hudson traffic (need transponder), remember that? Can you fly that anymore? Last time I looked up at the TT, down at the Hudson 800' usually and Newark would clear you across NYC to get to the sound, no more.
Been a long time. Have to call my buddies and see who has a plane now!
Advice: No money in flying airplanes, and certainly no life. Great hobby if you have lots of money. Get best edcucation you can, get a great job, work very hard, then have the money to get into flying.
Ever flown a Lear, I have! But only a very rich guy or a business can afford a Lear. Getting into the right position may earn you a good living and you may have access to fun planes as well. BTW, no pilots license, but I must have 200 hours! Someday I finish and get a cheapo Mooney, Corvette of the sky!
Never sell the 1st one. :nono: Look at how many signatures say "Sold and terribly missed."
I agree with Scorp, Ive kicked around the idea of selling mine more than once, but for some reason I just cant do it. Not even to trade in on a new one.:)
I just re-read several of your posts over the last few days, and I truly believe you will REGRET selling the Vette. You missed it when the U-Joints were bad. You waited 3 weeks or so and spent $2200 to get it fixed. You now have it in great shape. If you get around $6000 for it, you're looking at netting $3800. You're going to need something to drive around so some of this money is going to have to get another car. I just don't think you're going to get enough to make it worth while. I'd look at ALL of your options before making this kind of decision.
Look at it this way.... Would you REALLY want to be in Florida WITHOUT a Corvette???? Would hate to see you end up stuck with something like a...Chevette :U :U :U
If you can, keep it as a driver. No since in selling it for $6000 and spending $5000 on a reliable commuter.
If it comes down to the point where you have to choose between the two, sell that SOB. Bettering yourself is the most important thing you can do, over cars, women, and even friends some times.
You have plenty of years left to enjoy more 'Vettes.
