Default Console Cover

Hey Guys, my console cover is cracked and brittle from sitting in the sun too many years. It's cracked on the corners and is separating from the plastic lid itself. Do these console covers that our vendors sell actually wrap all the way around the plastic lid and completely cover it up or do they just kinda sit on top and the old cover is still visible? In the pic below, the cover on the black one shows the corners of the console. Are those the console cover or the console proper. The beige one looks like it will cover it all but does it wrap around under the console lid. Can you order either style. I want to rip off the old cover and put something ALL new on there.

Thanks ---Gunny---

I bought one from redline and it wraps around and covers the whole thing. I've been really happy with the workmanship thus far.

Interesting....I'd never seen the covers that completely wrap the existing console lid. Those are a good idea.....That is unless your arm/elbow sits up so high that it's an akward sitting/shifting position. This is especially true for manual cars that require constant shifting.

For mine, I removed the vacuum formed factory vinyl and wrapped it with new color-matched vinyl. Hot glue or a power stapler is needed to hold the new fabric.

If someone made the MAM checkered flag cover (with a complete wrap like the beige cover above), I'd be interested. As is, I think the MAM price is too high. For that matter, replacement console lid/material is too high.

I redid my own cover for about $20.

I like that checkered flag cover as well. My local upholstery shop wanted $50 to recover mine. I was thinking about that checkered flag cover and let them use it with some new wrap material all the way around to completely cover the old lid.

Gunny the aftermarket one is great. In fact I thought it was OEM for the longest time. Very comfortable and just the right height.

Thanks guys, I don't see Keen parts happening for $200.00. That's over 10 cases of beer. A man's gotta have priorities. I'll check the VettePros one and the aftermarket as well. A little more height would be great.

vettepros is a recycler, and most of them will have one for $40 or so, I like them cause they ship instantly.

DAMN Keystring. We have two different definitions of "fits great". I don't like to be critical, but I have to think most viewers would agree with me on this....

You need: 1) a new console pad, 2) repair of the lid vinyl underneath it, and 3) more stuffing in your seat covers!

I don't know. I don't think it fits that bad. I just got out of the car and was leaning on it. Guess it doesn't 'spring' back very good.

But then again, this isn't a show car.

As far as the seat covers go: There are 'controls' under there because they are sport seats.
The covers need to be modified to fit correctly.

I haven't fix all the PO's messes yet. But I'll get there.

And with my health not always being the best, it's going to take me longer to get it straightened out.

I put up a couple of threads about this car when I got it last august.

Here:

I'm still finding little 'surprises' from the PO.
