I've just purchased a 1993 C4 convertible and wonder if turning the light switch to park and having the headlight pods swivel up into place, but not light is an intentional design or a wiring issue. The parking lights do light and the headlights will light when the switch is turned further. I had a mechanic look at it and after studying the wiring diagram, he felt the switch was at fault, so I replaced it. No change. Any insight out there?

The headlight buckets should not open with only parking lights selected on the switch.
Once you turn the headlight switch to headlights, the headlights should come on and the buckets rotate to the up position.
But if you then turn the switch back to parking lights the headlights should turn off, but the buckets will remain up.
That's what I thought. It sounds like the sequence is messed up and I'm at the stage where you would turn the switch back to park, the headlights go out but the buckets are still up. Since I've installed a new switch with the same result, does anyone have any ideas how to make it work properly?
Do you think some of the wires in the plastic connector were assembled in the wrong order? The way the switch works appears to select a combination of connections to go through the sequence, otherwise I have a crossed connection in the harness somewhere.
Any GM electrical experts out there that can unravel this?
