hello guys i have a 93 vette and the ac buttons werent working too good. i had my friend clean them. i drove the car today and for a minute it blew cold and then started blowing hot air and the buttons didnt work. after i parked it and let it cool off i started it and the buttons seemed to work better and it was blowing cold, but in a minute the temp setting went from cold to hot. 90. and the buttons wouldnt respond. any ideas on this one. thanks, dave

many have complained of these same symptoms;there are a bunch of threads on this.

short story is that everything goes through a vacumn controller mounted on the firewall above the gas pedal. seems the controller and hoses dont fail as much as the little nipples the hoses plug onto tend to get soft and collapse or partially collapse over time; in any case the vacumn doesn't always go when and where it's supposed to.

there is also a vacumn check valve which supplies the whole system; its located on the passenger side aft end of the intake manifold; it's another nickel and dime part that can fail over time.
