Default Identify Engine - Wierd Engine Components

I'm needing to get the distributor ordered for my new engine, but I'm suddenly unsure what engine I have. I would just run the numbers, but the block is currently at the machine shop (and the machinist is out of town). Here's the deal. I was told the engine was out of a 95 corvette. However, I just discovered the optispark is non-vented, and the timing cover (in looking at images on the internet) is from a 92-94 Camaro.

All that leads me to believe it's a Camaro LT1; however, the crossover pipe appears to be from a 95 AND, the biggest clue to me... it is a 4-bolt block.

Is it possible to put a non-vented opti and a Camaro timing cover on a 95 LT1? Any other ideas how this configuration could have come about?

If the pin on the cam is the correct length, you can swap the optis and timing cover..

Depending on what work you're having done at the machine shop (and if the budget allows) it might not be a bad idea to go back to a 95 cam/ timing cover/ opti set-up. You'll feel more secure knowing the opti is vented.

Default Engine Suffix Code

I was able to get the engine suffix code; but, am unable to find what year/make/model it is. ZWA... anyone know what that correlates to?

I finally figured it out. 1994 LT-1. Damn, now I have to deal with a non-vented opti or mod it out to accept a vented one. I would be fine with buying a new timing cover and opti; but, the cam modification is confusing to me.

Default LT1 block

I would bet it's a 94 or earlier block, one thing I found out about LT1's, if the engine was a replacement block under warranty, these had no vin number on the front engine block tab by the water pump or next to the oil filter boss they all came as a four bolt main block I found this info on the LT1/LS1 website someone chimed in and explained the absence of the vin number.

I agree with everyone else, spend a few more dollars and buy a vented timing cover/optispark and updated cam and save yourself some aggravation. you can find the vacuum harnesses at any pick your part salvage yard for a few bucks, all the vacuum hoses, filters, check valve,etc..... hope this helps!
