NEED SOME ADVICE GUYS!!! Aluminum/paint stripper
Hey guys,
Well I have been putting off this project for long enough. I want to totally clean the visible suspension, visible behind the wheels. My question(s) is this:
So my wheels are powdercoated black and it looks to me like a person who had the Vette before me went in, took each wheel off and spray painted the aluminum control arms, etc. along with the yellow bilstein shocks and all the other stuff black. I was just wondering what my options were in getting all this paint off. Hoping you guys have some experience with some chemicals.
Got any brands, etc?
Thanks fellas

You can use an air gun or electrical wire brush. I did that few years ago with my 92. The calipers were extremely nasty and that took care of it.

The one I used on the calipers was a loan and it was maybe the hardest wire out there and didnt break anything.

We used to use an aresole can for some paint striping in our paint shop, I think it was a 3m product but any body shop will give you an idea as the brand but I do remember it was some nasty stuff you did not wan't to got it on your skin. But if you still need help go to a autobody supply store like Keystone.

Aircraft brand paint stripper. Used it on the wheels of an 88.
Will not damage the aluminum if you follow directions.
Can be found at auto parts stores.

This. Aircraft paint stripper is formulated for use on aluminum and if used properly, it won't hurt the pieces. Be careful to not let it sit on the rubber bushings.
