Hello everyone I have just purchased a running 84 Vette for $1000 bucks. Its has 183k on it and and has a 93 front and rear clip, needs some major bodywork but a solid car even being a Michigan car. I plan on painting her a dark gray and totally redoing the interior. But with an alternator and some new tires she's ready to go.
Thanks everyone, it is definately a big project that needs many things, sunspension related etc. but NO i could definately not go wrong with it. The one problem that I have not been able to solve is the wheel lock nuts do not have the keys with them, they are stripped out and they look to be too close to tap a socket over them. I may be wrong about the last thing (hopefully) but it will be at my house this weekend once I sell one of my boats and have room! too many projects, but hey it is a Corvette
Not for a thousand bucks, but you CAN go wrong with it if you throw more into it than it's worth. No matter what you do to it, for any potential future buyer it will still be an old car with high mileage.
If it's a labor of love and you can afford it, good on 'ya. But I've been there and done that with boat and motorcycle projects and it's all too easy to leave common sense behind and end up with an expenditure that could have bought you a much newer and nicer vehicle, and one that you could have been driving instead of working on. Satisfaction has its price, all right, but....
Congratulation. looks good from here. I buy my c4 las week I spend the hole weekend whith the car just taking note what is to be done . my list is log, I also have to re do the interior. some suspention and some timing on the motor.
best of luck with the proyect and keep posting pics. I love pics

On your above problem. If you know someone in the service department at a dealership or possibly a place where they mount tires. There is a socket that removes them, I borrowed one for some locking lugs that the key was lost and they worked...just tell them what happened and one of them should be able to help you out possibly...just a suggestion.
Thanks everyone. As for putting more money into it than it's worth....I'm not too sure yet I'm pretty good about that, Including my last 3 boats which I have made a profit on, but this car may be a little different as I plan on keeping it. My grandpa who owns a junkyard told me to cut a slot in the lugs and try to unscrew them kind of, He's pretty sure that'll work. and BTW I HATE that tool box all the 1/4" sockets and wrenches on the top fall out about once a week because of the stupid design.lol I'll keep everyone updated, I'll most likely start getting all the fluids changed, tune up, a little cleaning, rip the interior out, then get started on the body.

P.S. I've only found 2 dead mice so far.
I HATE when that happens. But it's a decent toolset aside from that.
