Default Headlamp Question

I just replaced a headlamp today on my '96 that was getting dim (the headlamp replacement solved the dim problem).

However, I notice when I removed the old headlamp that it has a plastic lens. The replacement I bought has a glass lens. The replacement beam is therefore heavier than the old one with the plastic lens.
Is that extra weight something I should be concerned about with the hideaway headlights? Will it decrease the life of the headlight motor due to the increased weight?

Thanks for any answers or comments.

Regards,
-Ward

It may wear the bushings a bit faster, but if bushings have not been replaced yet, it may be something to have handy, only $5.99, once I put new bushings in the motor, it worked so much faster and stronger. Ofcourse my bushings were all dust any way. As old as these cars are they will eventually desintegrate. furtunatly is a very easy job to do and only takes a hour and a half.

Just to make it very clear to those who have not done this. The white powder in the photo above is what is left of the bushings. They totally disintegrate.

The origional sealed beam bulbs were glass. Mine are also glass. Don't worry about it too much except for

the bushings. That happens so much that just about every website that deals with corvette parts offers either a rebuild kit or a new unit.
Shouldn't be a huge issue. If they cause this, then your bushings are probably close to gone right now anyways.

I was never sure which came originally, glass or plastic, but I have had two C4's (both with half-and-half lighting) and...

One light flipped up slower with the glass lamp and my current car rotates at equal speeds so the conclusion is inconclusive at this point.

Well mine came with glass, I switched to plastic and went HID but still like I said above my bushings were gone anyhow so I had to replace them anyways.
