Quick Road Trip in Marco
Out of the desert…..

…..into the tunnel going up to Cloudcroft…..

…..out of the tunnel and climbing…..from 4000’ at the desert floor to 9100’ in 16 miles.

Through the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation (Watch that speed or feel the wrath of the BIA)

Unfortunately, going up traffic was thick because there was a motorcycle rally this weekend, and I had to follow this hideous Hawwwnda SUV and couldn’t let Marco stretch his legs in the twisties….which is a shame….this road is seriously fun when there’s no traffic and no BIA cops that are still upset about whitey taking their land 250 years ago. Just kidding…they’re not really upset about that still. Unless you have Texas plates.

Finally….a shot of Sierra Blanca. Heavy cloud cover over the summit, but was the best shot I could get. If you’re curious, google Sierra Blanca New Mexico for what it looks like on a clear day….breath taking.

Coming back from Ruidoso was another story…..after I dispensed with a sloth like F150, the highway was all mine for 15 miles of twisties. I had wifey with me, so I didn’t really hang the car out too much, but still had some fun. Marco doesn’t stick as well as my ’84 did, but quite close…and the extra 95 ponies more than made up for it.
Rolled back into El Paso right after sunset. 300 miles, car ran like a champ, returned just a tick over 28 MPG too. I love this car.
Until next time.......

Nice pics, thanks for sharing.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful countryside in a beautiful car.

Positive. Anyone else would have been in for a serious hellride.
On a serious note, I never doing any serious ripping through the twisties unless I'm alone. If I wrap it around a tree or dump it upside down, I'll be the only one suffering for my mistake.Givin' you ideas Pete? Next time you're out, we can head up to the Inn of the Mountain Gods, have dinner and play the tables for a bit, then run up to Timberon. That will give us 120 miles of serious mountain twisties.
Should have called it "Frizzies Excellent Adventure"
Nice pics Friz, plus it looks like you had a lot of fun my brutha, and you didn't even take a jab at me.................................yet!!

You're right Sweetsie.....I'm so sorry. Here....I'll make it up to you....Ever wonder what an inbread cat looks like?? Wonder no more....

Giving me an itch to go over the Cascades to Eastern Wa before the weather in the pass turns anti-Corvette!
From my trip last year:

Very observant Kittah....I figured you, and probably only you, would pick up on the "Wonder" pun.
And no, I have absolutely no intention of maturing in any way, shape, or form.
