I did the "repair" to the door panels on my '95...added some sheet metal to the end three ribs.
I also replaced all of the door weatherstripping and have been fighting keeping the door panels in place ever since. Have not been able to see what it is that is keeping the door panel from staying in place. I have trimmed the new weatherstripping several times....but the panels will come off at the top if the door is shut hard.
Anyone have this problem after replacing the door weatherstripping?
I did the exact samething to my '96 and the panels are solid......
I am not exactly sure what you are saying but I fixed one side laying fiberglass into the curve at the top along with about a 1" strip all along the top. The glass doesnt stick well but I backed it up with rivets when I reinstalled the weatherstrip. This is still holding well. The other side I just had a too thin metal strip running the whole length and it isnt doing well. you just need to increase the width of the part that clips over the door. There are a lot of different methods.
1st, thanks to all who have commented to-date on the need for photos on our repairs however small, easy, piece of cake (fill in the blank) they may be.. A sincere thanks to Pianoguy for locating a past panel thread with photos.. I would like to see other (s) who may have delt with this problem differently. Thanks also to Corvette Forum for keeping me in the loop when someone reply's.. This is what its all about, and what make the Forum work!! Anthony
