Default automatic shifting

I'm new to C4s. Newer Corvettes with automatic transmissions can control their shifting characteristics by computer programming. Is this the case with a 1986 automatic transmission?

No, the '86 uses the 700r4 & is not electrically controlled. I just browsed the stickies to see if I could find the year the 4l60e was introduced but failed---a search would probably find it, give it a try.

93's could have either one, that's the year they started to put them in.

my 85 shifts way sooner with the original prom installed. The updated prom I bought in the 90's shifts later.

85 PROM has no control over shifts. TC lockup...yes but not shifts.

Correct. The TV cable controls shift points on a 700R4. And it isn't adjustable....it's either set correctly, or it's not. You'll know when it's not set correctly, because your transmission will burn itself up in short order.
