PLEASE READ-Update On Posting In Threads Over 45 Days Old
Over the last couple of months, we've had numerous members reviving threads over 45 days old, which is against forum rules. I've PM'ed one of the forum Administrators to see if threads revived that have technical value and aren't the "pot stirring" type (which the rule was initially put in place to prevent) can be posted. Threads that are over 45 days old that are revived will be evaluated for validity. If it's beneficial to the forum and it's members, It won't be locked. If it's a "trolling" or a "pot strirring" revivial, expect infractions. Hopefully this clarifies the rule and eliminates the confusion.
Good call. If there's new news or a new related question, it's better
to revive the old thread than to start a new one. All the background
info is right there for the reader.

and that is the correct procedure...
alternatively you could start a new thread with a link to the old thread depending on the age...45-60 days isn't really that old but we have lots of people dredging up stuff from 2008 and sometimes the pictures are missing or informational links are broken
Are some of these old threads coming back because of issues with the Search function only displaying old threads? I have seen a few threads appearing in the Tech sections that originated some years ago even as far back as '02 although many are from '08 and '09 where the last post was made by somebody who was asking a question or commenting on the subject.
Is there a way to do some type of "automatic lock" by using a date value (# of days from current) or date range? Maybe the IB tech guys could figure out a way to do that. That could solve problems with old threads being re-opened.
If there was significant value to add to a particular thread, a member could ask a Mod to unlock it with a statement about specific use rather than just posting comments that don't add to the technical aspect of the thread.

Beats having dups come up as often or one would hope.
HPBushrods favorite, "When are they going up in value" you can boneyard those.
Perhaps some are because of the search issues but often it's noobs who don't know the rules. That being said if you find a good tech thread link us up and we can add it to the Tech Stickies...PM HP Bushrod (Chuck) the links...he is a helpful kinda guy
