Why don't you just cut yours. You can buy a new one later. They cost about 39 bucks new.

I know you can cut them, but I'm a original freak and like to "know" it can be easily switched back to it. Oh well, how do u cut the lid...I've never looked at it before. Any links to an instructional site?

I cut the one on my 88 with a good pair of tin snips. When you take off the cover, you'll see what part need to be cut out. Just cut out the top part from corner to corner. Just the top, not the sides. Took some wide black electrical tape and covered the sharp edges. Works fine, or you can but one from Mid America if you have a catalog. If you go that far, install a K & N filter. It runs and sounds different than stock cover and filter.

I kinda worked backwards and already have the K&N filter, the very first thing I did when I picked my baby up along with changing her oil.

Buy a new one from Mid America and cut it. It will cost $40.
But if you buy teh cut lid from Mid America it will cost you $50.

Or do like I do, make friends with a Corvette Junkyard and get one cheap(or free even).

Honestly, you won't see much of a gain.

Completely stock I ran 13.07 @ 108 mph.

With a cut lid, new filter(not K&N) and no mufflers, I went 12.99 @ 107 mph.

So I only gained 8 hundreths and I lost 1 mph.

I would just leave it alone.
