Would help if we knew what year your car was.....but 92-96 LT-1 need synthetic, Mobil 1 is a good choice. L83 or L98 (84-91) any good quality dino oil will work just fine. I believe the latest API rating is SM. Oreillys house brand oil is probably just as good as any other and cheaper.
- just stick with the factory for the recommended oil (and filters). if the OP is looking to save a buck, wal-mart sells the stuff in 5 qt jugs for around 25 bucks or so. add an ac delco filter, and the OP's car is probably good for another 180K. never heard of anyone destroying their engine by using the factory stuff @ recommended intervals...

If you really only have 180 miles in 17yrs vs. 180k, why worry about performance? You obviously don't drive it much and probably need to worry more about wheel bearings. That's because good, clean/repacked bearings make it easier to roll in/out of your garage for waxing!

Got a Costco near you?
Go tomorrow, get a membership and the coupon book that expires tomorrow.
Go to the oil aisle and pick up two cases of 5w-30 mobil1 for $10 off per case.
Then go to NAPA nad get a NAPA Gold filter for your year.
Why 2 cases of oil? The coupon doesn't come out very often and it makes your per qt price as close to $4 as you will see it. Walmart sometimes has the 5 qt jugs for $26.
