I don't blame him. I've had to explain how the ebrake works to every single person that gets in my car, including mechanics.

I don't understand why it is so annoying.
Unless it's not working properly, or someone isn't aware that the handle does not remain in the upright position after setting the brake.

You only use this handle to set and release the brake.
Once you set the brake, the handle returns to the lowered position and you wouldn't even know it was there.

I don't think it would be reasonable to try. Look at the console on the passenger side and you will see there is really no room for the C4 parking brake handle and the assembly if you move it to that side and ever want to be able to adjust the passenger seat.

The C5 parking brake handle and assembly would be difficult to install as the C4 console really doesn't have the space for it. The trans tunnel would have to be modified and it may be next to impossible to route the cable because of the C-beam.

Norcal, it looks like you are a noob. You do understand how the brake works, right? I'm with everyone else, it shouldn't be that big a deal unless you are trying to crawl over it.

I don't think the reward equals the effort or expense. Its already down and out of the way.

Find something else to improve where your energy is better used.

I had my car fail inspection once because the ASE "mechanic" did not know how the E brake worked.

I can honestly say this is the first post I've read about moving the e-brake handle.

Good luck!

I don't get whats so hard about using the parking brake. I figured out how it works with out looking in the owners manual. if your local geese monkey can't figure out how to work something simple has that why would you want him touching your car? also after you set it you can put the handle back down. and unless you drive a manual or park on a really steep hill there is no need to use it

You could move it with enough planning and effort. Would be a mess of work though. You would need the C5 handle, and mod your console paneling to accept it, if not swapping out the console altogether. C4 handle would be too redic to put there.

Go back and read post #6.

That "console paneling" is not a console like on some older cars. It conforms to the solid trans tunnel.
I don't think you could make the modifications needed and still be able to use it, much less get any seats in the car.

Why don't you save yourself some grief and change titles.

There was a shop north of Redlands that specializes in this sort of thing. Gatorbacks or something of that nature. Might still be there.
