Can some one tell me where the groung wire connects to the car. Have replaced brake switch and still have no 3rd light. 88 35th anninersary.
I replaced my third light with a LED light. Remove the plate and look at all connections. This Vettes are old and corrosion on the connectors is a possibility. Have you check on the bulb? They do go bad.

Yes, bulbs are good. Am sure it is the ground, but don't know where it connects to the chassis.
At least on an '87, all the lights in back share a common ground
connection. The coupe and vert are a little different, but in both
cases the '87 FSM shows all the wires coming together in the middle
of the panel at the top rear of the cargo compartment.
I'd have a buddy push the brake pedal. Use a volt meter to verify
that you are getting 12V to one side of the lamp socket, Then
release the brake pedal and use an ohmmeter to verify that you have
very low resistance between the other side of the lamp socket and
ground.
Check the brake light switch at the brake petal. The third brake light has separate contacts than the tail lights. I had to replace my switch and that solved the problem, same no light problem as you have. You can jumper the wires at the switch to test the wiring.
