So some of you are complaining because his C4 was estimated at a high price? I buy lots of specialty cars and flip them, and if any of you want to sell me your C4 as clean as the one shown for your low ball figures, let me know. I have no problem making real profits on these cars. Why? Because I don't hold the price down to a potential buyer because of what some quote as "market price". I hold it high and give the buyer a chance to go look at the "bargains" out there. I show them no pressure to buy at all. Actually I tell them I really don't want to sell it because it's so nice. They most always come back and make me a high offer. Maybe I'm just a good salesman, but I don't recall anyone complaining they paid too much.

I'm sure that we all would like to see the $18k marque as the norm. I doubt that too many people will pay $18k for a vey nice 88 though.

I couldn't agree more! While I'll not sell this jewel even if someone offered me $18,000, I do agree that most C4 owners toss their cars away. You can't buy a good 4 wheeler for what these people sell C4's for.

But I do love to buy from desperate C4 owners who think their cars are worthless.

TRUE STORY! I talked to one guy who had his very nice 49,000 mile 1994 priced at $5500.00 because that's all that he heard it was worth from members on this forum. I told him to try doubling that price and market it with more of a positive attitude towards its value and condition. Then if he couldn't do it, I would gladly take it off his hands. Within two weeks he sold it for $10,300.00.

TRUE STORY! Forums are the best places to buy things at 1/2 price! People usually use forums to dump their "whatever" on the "whatever forums" never getting what it could have sold for if they had the patience. "whatever forums" are a great way to move the "whatevers" as long as the "whatever owner" is willing to low ball it.

So there are positives and negatives to "whatever forums".

If the buyer and seller are both happy, it was a good sale.

Really? I haven't seen anybody on any forum tell someone that a nice 49k 1994 is only worth $5500. He must have been listening to all of those optispark experts. He also must have been intelectually challenged.

Anyone stupid enough to price his car based on what he is told on any forum deserves to get ripped off. There is no secret here, no conspiracy. Just go out there and look at what these things are bringing. If people were standing in line to buy these things they would demand a higher price. People are not standing in line and they don't demand a very high price. I can find nice low mileage cars all day long for $6K up to $8K. That's just the way it is. If some one gets more it's because he found the right buyer, good for him.

Simple economics.

Probably true. I was in a accident in my 89 auto with 135,000+ and insurance told me it was worth 13,000. My car was clean but not mint. They have become classics is what my insurance told me.

These things are NOT classics and are far from it. Please let me know who your insurance company is so I can get a policy and a old, high mileage used up early C4 and make a boat load of money.

Sorry, your story does not make sense. There is no way any insurance company is going to pay thousands over what these cars are selling for.

My insurance is state farm. I'm just telling you what they told me. Tell me why the car had 8500 worth of damage but its being fixed. And a vette not a classic. Wtf are you doing on this site if vette aren't classics *******. So sorry you probably got ripped off selling your c4. There that make sense

What a snotty negative attitude. Sorry you got ripped somewhere down the line. Insurance companies do consider these cars as Classics as well as banks, and other institutions. I've seen my Insurance policy and it clearly states the value used in their coverage.

While I've been delighted by the Nada values I'm by no means disillusioned about the market conditions. I'm pleased the values are climbing.

is "totaled" value so much below asking or is Geico really bending me over???
GEICO is bending you over, because that is their standard MO. Here in CA insurers are required by regulation to replace the vehicle with another of equal or better condition and/or mileage. In spite of that an adjuster tried to tell me that he was only authorized to make a "good faith" offer and that I more or less had to accept it.

After I quoted the CA Fair Claims Settlement Act to him the story changed very quickly in my favor. I provided a list of similar vehicles currently for sale and got the full amount I demanded.

Moral: check your state's insurance regulations. GEICO is hoping you won't, and most of the time their hopes are rewarded. They can try to bend you over, but if you allow the insertion it's your fault.

Is it an 88 b2k? If not, it ain't gonna bring 18k. Hate to say it but the books are WAY off.

The only early cars that are bringing good money right now are ultra low mile 88 Z01's with a 4+3

Iroc-z 5.7L 350 V8 engine
T-top roof (they also list glass roof and dual glass roof).
Nova column package

Low retail 8493, High retail 21825.
