Removing breadbox

Removing breadbox

So if I want to replace my breadbox, can't I simply cut open the breadbox to access the brackets and screws?

This way, I won't have to take off the dash or the kick panel?

Or am I missing a step?

Yes, you can cut the center out to get to the attaching bolts. However, you will ruin the breadbox in the process. If you are going to replace the breadbox in kind, you will have to remove the top dash pad to get to all the brackets and bolts.

Thanks. Since mine has some warpage I don't think it is too big of a concern.

You can pick up a used breadbox in pretty good shape for cheap at one of the Corvette salvage houses or post on the parts wanted section here. I got mine for free and a couple of beers. Good luck

Not much, but there are two screws that hold the bottom on. Both of them are at a downward angle, heads are to the firewall.
