Maybe Mustangs with 400+hp will remain somewhat attainable in the mid 30's for a GT. Just saying....
That's my next car...$3k back from Ford. you could get a base model 5.0 for $26k-$27k right now. I don't even have to sell a vette to get that if I trade out of my DD instead. Like I was saying, I'm more comfortable buying a car in that range, keep it for a couple or three years and eat some depreciation. Lather, rinse, repeat without tying up 40-60 large.
[QUOTE=Paul Workman;1579688996]IF the C7 were to be a rear-engine car (finally), and especially if it were a 4-valve VVT screamer...I probably would be seriously tempted.
But, as long as we're talking about another front engine car with a push rods motor...[big yawn]...No. I guess not!
Is this Guy serious??!!!! I like my motors with one cam and my motor in front especially in my Corvette. Is Chevy does that I will puke. No flappy paddle shifters either.

One cam... Wow are you ever missing out.
And why would I buy a C7 when I already own the ultimate Corvette...

I've driven a 2011 5.0 GT with only option being 3.73's. I've never drove a ZR1 with the LT5, but you have.
You'll like the 5.0 Coyote engine. It LOVES to rev to 7K, right now. The gearing is short and from about 3 to 7K it is there RIGHT NOW!!!. A blast to drive. First, Mustang I was ever impressed with, changed my outlook on them, mostly the new ones.
I'd still take C4 ZR1 over a C7 if someone wanted to give me one.

They are different animals car-wise, but engine wise maybe comparable. They are both about the same weight interestingly.
The mustang is geared short. the street/strip dna is evident. They hook up and boogie. I found myself hoping the fuel cut would be 300 rpms higher as it felt like the LT5 powerband, but cut short. seemed to cut out at 6900 indicated (don't know how accurate the tach was). I heard the Boss 302 revs to 7400 rpm.
The LT5 C4 is geared somewhat taller in 1st gear and doesn't have VVT tricks like the 5.0 Coyote engine. It does have different cam durations for the primary and secondary lobes as well as 50 more cubic inches though.
The 'stang seemed like it would 0-60 faster. My C4-Z definitely felt stronger from 70-130 mph. To be fair- my ZR-1 does put 350-360 rwhp to the wheels, not really stock, but still breathing through the stock cats so the original personality of the power delivery is pretty well represented imo.
I rented a 5.0 for 3 weeks (stick shift) and immediately drove my C4 right when I got home. If felt like the 1/4 mile would be very even with the LT5 pulling on the last half of the track.
the 5.0's have those tunes that really play with the timing and VVT to wake those cars up. You know mods will be fairly affordable and mass produced.

I know a guy that got 50hp (crank) with a tune/cat-back/cold air. Ford left a lot on the table. I was making a engine comparison, and from what you say, they are SIMILAR in nature. You even made the powerband comparison for me.
The Boss 302 Leguna Seca Edition+track key=Sweet.
Anyhow back on topic...
I will make this point if GM wants the Corvette to live, they need to find a way to lower the price point. My 2 cents.
