96 corvette I'm thinking of buying one its got 126 000km on it for $13000 Canadian I would love to hear the pros and cons of this car it's the collectors edition and the only thing wrong with it is the antenna won't go up and down properly. Love to here any feedback good or bad.
My suggestion would be to check condition, condition condition. If the 1996 Collectors is a manual then it has the nice 330hp LT4 engine which is much better than the LT1. 1996 is last of the C4 series so I would say its a sound buy as everything would be sorted.
126,000km seems highish km wise when you look what is around but so long as the car has been looked after and clean I see no issue. Check all electrics and ensure they work. Are the seats in tidy and un-ripped condition?

- WTF - ???
MUCH better, i don't think so - it may be stronger, and it is, but why would you say MUCH better. i feel the 330 horse LT4 is probably a bit underrated (i'd be willing to say it's really 350 hprsepower), but not MUCH better! is it balanced and blueprinted, or better built? is it be more reliable? why is it MUCH better???

yes sorry to bust your bubble but the LT4 IS WAY BETTER. you can buy a lt1 for the price of an lt4 manifold alone. The heads are better, so is the valvetrain, so is the crank, pistons etc etc.. it IS a way better more reliable and more powerful motor. 350 hp isnt MUCh better than 300?
Oh and to the op yes it is overpriced considering you can find one for almost 50% less down south.

Really, and i'm sure you have the facts to back that statement up right?

- sure sounds like a lot of the "my dad can beat up your dad" syndrome - i'd really like to see some of those facts - especially, the "more reliable" thing...
without adding to the pi$$in contest, here's pretty much everything you wanted to know, but were afraid to ask - the FACTS - http://www.fierolt1.com/lt1_vs_lt4_1.htm - nowhere does it say "more reliable". as i said originally, its a stronger motor, maybe more desirable (to some), but certainly not more reliable...
$13000 may be a bit high but if you like it you can always make an offer. I bought my CE convertible in 2008 for just under $11000 but I had to drive it back from Florida and do the import thing. It is not that difficult to do but it seems a little over whelming at the time. I had fun driving the car back. So if you want to explore the other options down south don't hesitate. There are some really good deals out there since the economy really sucks in the states right now. As stated earlier in the thread 1996 is a great option since the car has had most of the glitches worked out. As far as collectability a grand sport would be the way to go but the price will be reflective. I did not care too much about the mileage since the engines are solid built in St. Catharines, Ontario, I used to work there before Free Trade scewed the canadaian Auto industry. My car had 110,000 miles on it when I bought it. That being said I really only drive the car in the summer and on the weekend. I do keep the plates and insurance going though and did take the car out last weekend since it was so nice out. I love global warming!!!! Anyway good luck with your purchase decisions.
You really have to look at the overall condition of the car, how many owners, Cdn. winter driven, what major work has been done, receipts/invoices for work done. Are tires good? Paint? Interior?..all the up front costly stuff aside from mechanical issues?
I bought a really clean '96 last year in the Chicago area and trailered it home on a U Haul trailer. The hunt of the purchase south of the border and getting it home is as much fun as actually owning it. Going south just expands your market a 100 fold. Check over what your looking at now very carefully and if you get that odd feeling that something just doesn't add up, walk away and keep looking. Peter
