My wife has a dark slate grey convertible boot that she bought but never used on her '96. She sold the car and I still have this taking up room in the garage. I want to post it in the parts section but since I have to post a price and I have no idea what they sell for I figured that I'd ask in here first. I can't find it at the venders sites.
Anyone knows what these things are worth? It is new and never used. Any help would be appreciated.
My ignorance is showing. What is a convertible boot?
Not ignorance at all. I wasn't sure what it was either I just know that it was in the back of her vette for years until she sold it. It is a hard plastic shell on one side and a cloth or leather on the other. When the top folds down this snaps over it in the closed position to protect the top while stored.
I think I know what it is now. She isn't a car person and I never questioned it but couldn't find one anywhere for a corvette. She had a Sebring convertible at the same time. It is going to go to the Sebring not the corvette. She just stuck it in the wrong car. DOH!
That explains why no venders had one for sale. I figured it was useless in a vette since the top is protected by the deck lid while closed.
Whew, now I don't feel like an idiot. I have a 95 Vert and I went out and looked for my "boot". I originally thought you were speaking England type English and were referring to the trunk........but I knew I didn't have one of those. Next I thought of the movie "Das Boot" but hopefully we're not driving submarines. I realize a few Vettes have tried the underwater thing but it didn't turn out well.
