i am in the process of replacing all my interior with new stuff in the 88 i just bought. the bose system in the car is crazy, when i turn on the head unit it pops real loud in the speakers, and has a loud whistling sound in the r door and the rear speaker. the L door speaker doesnt work. do i have to take out the panel with the window motor on it to get the speaker and amp set up out or can i take all the bolts loose and slide it to the side? thanks for any info, and does anybody know why it is doing the other stuff.
I have an 88. I replaced the Bose amps and speakers back in 03. They have gone bad again, like you describe. I am changing to an aftermarket. I've already transferred my cassette music to mp3's. Something to do in the Winter.
i have the outer door panel off, but the inner panel that holds the window regulator is in the way. can i take it loose and get amp and speaker out or do i have to take the window glass and inner panel out?

I'm sorry, its been a couple years, but i just remembered.
if you look under the door (lay on your back, look up), there is a 10mm bolt that holds the bottom of the regulator in. you have to remove it, and then the regulator will swing out of the way. I'm pretty sure the window has to be in the up position as well.
If i remember right, you have to "roll" the speaker box down, then slide it out.
it takes some fiddling, but it will come out easily when you find the right position.
