Weather stripping problem
I have just put a new top on my 93 convertible...and I bought all new weatherstripping from Corvette Central. The horizontal pieces do not line up and are too short. Can anyone guide me to a supplier that has the right stuff?
I did contact corvette central, took pictures, and their initial response was to tell me that mine was installed wrong and send me pictures back of their 86 pace car and show me what their weatherstrip looks like....It looks great! I took the car back to the shop that installed the weatherstrip...it is all they do is tops and interiors...I lifted the top, saw on the front of the middle rail that the weatherstripping was seated, and then took a mechanics mirror and looked at the back of the rail, it is seated there as well, the screws are installed in the proper place...As an ASE tech, It really doesn't look like rocket science to install this piece of weatherstripping. But to have both sides so misaligned, and short, it is apparent that they got a bad batch especially after looking at their 86. I will deal with Corvette Central....I want to know who out there has dealt with weatherstripping and knows a company who actually has stuff that fits. I called many companies and Corvette Central came highly recommended....after the way they have been shirking even the slight possibility that the stuff they sent me might be cut wrong....I am the one who has to prove it....to my expense and inconvenience.....It is a sad day. A sad day indeed.
Fitment was excellent on all pieces for my 86 Coupe.
I would contact Corvette Central... if you are positive the piece is incorrect. Send it back to them and ask them to cover all shipping costs back to them if and when they verify the piece incorrect.
As a supporting vendor on this forum i am sure they will look after you properly. I have never had any issues buying parts from them in the past...IMO...excellent customer service

I believe a man has to stand up for what he believes is right but a bigger man has to apologize when he finds he is wrong and tell all who have heard him. This apology by no means excuses my behavior on this forum or to Corvette Central but it is necessary that I do this.
I found after taking out the weatherstrip parts that did not fit that they were in fact installed incorrectly. Although from the front of the strip and the back of the strip it did look correct....it was not.
To all who have tried to help me, please accept my apology and know that I was wrong in all that I thought I knew of the situation. Further, Corvette Central did send the right parts, they were in fact correct and I rescind all that I said about them.....Yes I have called them as well to apologize.
Have a nice day and thanks to all who answered.
Sincerely,
George Nischan

BTW, installing weatherstripping is a tough job and you can't really match up the new to the old since you likely shredded the old pieces in trying to remove them. No shame there.
