My digital dash 86 coupe is reading 10 degrees F higher than the ECM reading on the Datamaster scans i do. This only started right after i installed a new Edelbrock reverse flow water pump...strictly a coincidence......

Sound like the sender in the passenger head is faulty or the digital dash (grounds)??

10 degrees I would not ne concerned myself.
I was starting to freak out on this as all the voltages and ohm readings were correct, as the engine warmed up the resistance changed according to the Service manual charts.
Popped in that 10$ ebay exact replacment and all normal again.
that coolant sensor on the water pump controls how the ecm sends info and that engine went from great to ****. all while the analog gauge read proper temps. Someone unfamiliar with the dual coolant sensor set up would be in for some rough times. Ha

It's normal for the dash to read 10 degrees higher than the ECM. The water coming from the radiator and hitting the ECM sensor in the front of the intake manifold is cooler than the water in the back of the passenger side head, where the dash temperature sensor is located.

Makes sense in theory...but then, what would be the purpose of have the sender in the head if it is not going to be close to accurate.

Before my readings changed recently...my dash was within 2 degreEs of the reading from the ECM.

Im going to pop in a new $9 sensor in the head to see if anything changes.
