Default interesting find

well I have owned my vette since last october and there has been a long laundry list of things to do which is finally comming close to bieng done so two days ago I set out to adjust the hood on the vette, the passenger's side was not down as far as it should have been, it was up like 1/8 inch when fully closed. so, I adjusted it to close to perfect, the end result it looks good, and when you push down on the corner there is no movement, it is rock solid and it pops open real easy.
The point is that up to that day my vette was always very noisey, clanky, creaky, which I just attributed to bieng a C4 because everyone even on this forum says they all are that way.
Well now that the hood has been adjusted the rattles are gone, and I mean gone!!!
so check your hood, with it closed push down, if there is movement downward then adjust the stop (very little at a time)

Interesting...

Most of the noise in mine seems to be due to a body-flex/targa interaction & me being too lazy to grab the targa tool & tighten it up. When it comes home I'll listen to see whether I need to add a hood adjustment to my procrastination...er...fix it list.

Yeah, I also felt it was due to the targa top, and that was part of the cause of the rattles, but I was seriously shocked by how quiet it is now, not saying there is no body movement but the major rattles are gone!!!

I'm a stickler for tightening those bolts, so I don't become the next member of the flying roof club

I never understood all the chat about how "loose" were these cars as my prior 35th Anni was rock solid; with the "new one" I see a few tweaks are needed.

Thanks for the tip about the hood...

Wish mine was that simple. Mine sounds like I'm hauling a load of loose lumber in the back when I go over a good size bump. Spare tire & carrier are out too. I'll find it someday!

I've been meaning to check that out on mine. Now I'm certainly going to squeeze it in this weekend! Thanks!

You want a VERY slight amount of movement when you push down on the hood above the latches (hood closed). If the hood is too tight the latch can bind and you can't get the hood open.
