gas gauge

I had a problem with my fuel sending unit. I replaced the unit but now my gas gauge in the cluster shows I have a full tank of gas all the time. Would anyone know how I can get my gas gauge back to normal. I never know how much gas I have in the car. Someone sent me a tutorial on fixing the float by taking it apart, I did that but the gauge still is not working.

...aside from taking the unit apart for inspection, you may try a bottle of Techron. I've used it a few times in my 96 and the digital gauge has 'improved'. Still not perfect but better.

I don't know if this will work, but you could try disconnecting the battery for a minute, to see if it resets.

High resistance of the sender unit makes the gauge read toward full. A low resistance makes the gas gauge read toward empty.

Sounds like something is not making connection. You are going to have to pull it out and measure it. It should read approximately 0 to 90 ohms full swing.
