Default Building a Lemons C4

Figured I'd share this with you guys. Picked up a non-running, parked in the woods for 13 years, 200hp V8 w/ Auto, '84 corvette. Previous owner actually did beach-combers in VB, figured I'd make him proud

Picking it up.

Previous owner stated that some water got into the tank, and instead of fixing it, just parked it. . . (more on this later)

Car coming to the driveway;

After starting to tear into the horribly moldy intererior, I got the urge to try to fire it up. I have video and will post it once I load it up. Now most people would have A.) Changed the oil, B.) Taken out the spark plugs and squirted in some fluid, C.) Primed the oil pump or something along these sorts. We just decided to spray some brake clean down the TBI's and give it a go.

After a couple of turns, it actually fired up! It spit tons of rust and rats nest out the tail pipe. . . .

Working on it this weekend. . .

I think we can get it to work, shortest lemons appearance if we did. . .

Hot rodders LIKE the cross fire injection for the lower intake manifold. Traded that for a carb and intake that needed to be fixed. This is the rats nest of wires we ripped out for going to carb'd. .

So I finally got around to addressing why the car was parked in the first place years ago - Water in the fuel tank.

This is what I pulled out when I took the top off the tank;

And this is where I stopped for the night;

Tires/brakes/seat/wheel/ etc is all coming in. Still have to wire up but should be pretty easy. Next up is making a roll cage. Using 1.75 .120 DOM.

Will try to get more/better pics as things go on (This done w/ my (or others) crappy cell)

Cheers,

After looking at the pictures and thinking about ALL THE WORK that needs to been done, I got so tired I had to go take a nap . I wish you the best of luck and I will be following this project and will be looking forward to seeing the finished car.

How could the engine possibly fire up with the gas pump like that!?

Nice project you're taking up though, looks like fun

Is racing ever cost effective? It is fun however, to use a small block chevy. + We'll have tons of fun with about $<1500 put into the car. That's to get ready for a 24 hr race. Future races will be cheaper. This vs how much time vs cost on tracking a C5 on hoosiers, we're doing pretty well Spare parts are WAY cheaper than my last lemons racer (Ford Conturd)

We're hoping at least 1. . . We're going to pull an abused truck 350 out of a buddies K5 that's also been sitting for years on end as a backup motor. . . We're also considering getting a 90* iron dukie as a plan c

Please tell me nobody thought this car was going to LeMANS.

I was considering a C4 LeMons car last year but just couldn't find the time to make it happen.

Should be fun!
