I got a replacement gear boot and Ive got everything apart-I removed the pin from the overdrive and counted 46 turns. But I cant get the old boot from around the lockout ring and the actual ****. Anyone done this before?
Im having trouble with the install. I cant remember exactly how it went though I read the spring goes on top of the lockout rod.
But I cant figure out how the lockout rod goes into the hollow shifter itself.
yes I was though I just tried it and the rod will not slide down. Also the car will not shift into 2nd gear(this is with the engine off) but goes into the other gears just fine. I shined a light down the hollow part and theres nothing lodged in since I can see through the other end.
When I turn the rod upside down it will slide in which is why I thought something could be lodged in the whole. Ive never had any tranny problems so Im not sure what couldve gone wrong :/
So I got back in the car and looked at the peices on the dash-the rod had a little white plastic peice stuck on end-but when I took it off it now slides into places easily and goes into all gears including reverse. How important is that white peice? Now I just have to get the wedge and T peice back in place.
