For 29-17 year old Vettes any wax from your local auto parts works. I used the auto parts stuff and won few trophies. Save your cash.

I've used cheap @ss Turtle Wax for over 20 years. Does the trick for me, and I can get it at Wal Mart when I pick up sodas and chips In between I used to use the spray wax at the car wash, but I wasn't religious about it.

Anyone know of a wax with excellent UV protection properties? I'll be leaving my car mostly exposed in the az summer sun untill I can work out the logistics to get it up to N.D

Most car waxes contain traces of rubbing compound to remove oxidized paint in order to give the paint a "new" look. Eventually, these waxes will remove your clear finish. The only wax you should use on good, unoxidized paint is carnauba wax. It will not produce a great shine but it will protect the paint.

I use P21S Concours on mine. That is topped on a coat of Mequiars #7 Show Car Glaze. It keeps a nice wet look and really helps fill in minor imperfections leaving a nice smooth surface. I can tell when the wax is starting to wear away. It's not perfect for keeping dust off, but with a bottle of detailer and a soft microfiber, a quick wipe keeps the wax looking good.

detailer is the only way i know to "dust off" the car or california brush.I use formula 113 wax that is used by many people at car shows but unfortunately does not last long but my car is basically garaged.

- pretty much, any old wax. wash often, wax often.

yea, in about 156,428 years, or your lifetime plus 10 - give or take... - i've been using a cleaner wax for years, and haven't worn through the clear coat yet, and doubt i ever will. "REMOVE" your clear - that's a bunch of bull!

i tend to go the "easy on, easy off" route. several years ago, i went to a show, and parked next to a friend that would only use the highest priced wax/polish available. now this wax is probably the best out there, but it's also the most involved in the application department. i used plain old, name brand, off the shelf, stuff, and parked next to him. nobody knew the difference, except our wallets. can you tell the specialty wax or the discount house wax corvette???

as far as durability go, most owners wax often, and durability should become almost a secondary issue. remember, waxes are 90% (marketing) hype, 10% fact...

I started using Rejex a couple years back, and I have been very happy with it.

D,
I think your best bet would be a high quality car cover. http://www.supercarcovers.com/car-co...egory_id=13649 Cinch it down so it doesn't flap in the wind and keep the car and cover clean.

I use Zaino on my Vette. It gives the best shine of anything I've ever used. However, I just bought some Rejex ($20), which is a lot cheaper and a lot of others recommend highly, to try on my DD. Zaino is easy to use but getting started with it can cost $100 or more, takes several applications and you have to order it on-line. I was able to find Rejex locally at an avaition supply house. (Yes, it's used on airplanes).

On dark color cars Zaino creates an amazing shine if you follow their application procedures.

On the other hand people that use Rejex are very happy with it. Also, according to the hype, bugs don't stick to it. Bugs aren't probably going to be a problem in the AZ heat though, I'd guess.

There are others out there. It's really a matter of your personal preference and a lot of how the car will look is in the prep before you use any wax or sealant. Do some research in the Car care section there's lots of info there.

After 15 years with only washing my red vert but kept in a garage the finish was hazy with micro scratches. A friend recommended using meguiars NXT generation tech wax and burning it in with a small orbital buffer. The results were unbelievable! Its like a new car with a wet look.

I use Final Finish "polish" and Finish First detailer...on all 6 of my Corvettes...

Goes on easy and comes off easy..and just plain shines with not a lot of work involved...

I'm not a waxer ... but I do not drive a dirty Vette either...

To be honest I can not remember even washing any of my cars in the last 2-3 years... dust them off before I leave the garage and wipe them down with detailer after I get home... takes all of 15 minutes.. The Polish gets applied about once a month IF it is a rainy day

Go to www.autogeek.net. They have all kinds of car care products, maybe too many. You can get confused with too much information. I have used some of their products and was very satisfied with them. For a long lasting wax try Collonite.

Cleaner waxes don't remove clear(If you run through your clearcoat with cleaner wax you don't deserve to own a corvette), Polishing/compounding and wetsanding do. Cleaner waxes also do not have a rubbing compound in them. Rubbing compound is meant to take scratches out, and will actually dull the paint.

I use Chemical Guys LAVA and Detail Kind aquaseal. Aquaseal is an awesome durability apply when wet paint sealant that I use most of the time. When I go to shows I apply Lava, it makes the metallic in the paint pop more and gives more of a "glow" than just a straight shine.
