3rd brake light?

Default 3rd brake light?
Anybody know if you can repair the 3rd brake light on a 86 convertible(does not light) or do I have to buy a new one. The damn thing is over $150.00 :mad :cuss

I would assume it's like my 89, access it by removing the liner around the gas fill cap. If replacing the bulb doesn't take care of it the third brake light has it's own separate brake switch. This was the problem on mine. Good luck.
