I have a 1993 convertible, and I need to replace, the tires, I know the suggested size, so can I install a 245/40/17 on the front of the car

Why not stay with the 275's on all four corners? It looks better, plus you can then rotate them.

Well 285s came on the 1993s,but the reason is I have found at Sams some 245 for 87 + tax

$87 per tire?! If they are not a name brand tire, I would seriously question the quality. If they are a good brand, then $87 is a steal.

I don't mean any disrespect...I'm just wondering why you would want to go so much smaller. If it's strictly a money issue then go for it. We all know that tires are pretty frickin expensive!! I would def look into your rim width too to make sure it's not too wide....if you had 285's on there you might have 9.5 inch rims and that could be too wide for a 245 tire. It is a vette...smaller tires means a little less performance. You could have some fun doin burnouts.....it would be a lot easier!!!!!

Check the date code on the sidewall...cheap price could mean old stock.
