First of all, I'm new to the forum and want to introduce myself. I have a black 1991 Corvette Coupe. I hope this place can help me learn more about the car and keep it running great!
Anyway, onto the issue at hand. I went to put the removable hardtop back on the car the other day, but only 3 of the 4 bolts would tighten. I couldn't get the rear bolt above the passanger seat to tighten. It appears that the threads are stripped where it bolts into. I didn't really have time to look at it, but is this something I can replace? Or do I have to try and re-tap it? Is this a common issue? I tried doing a quick search of the forum, but couldn't find anything for the C4. Hopefully someone can help me out.
Are you sure that the threads are stripped? Someitmes if you have been driving with the top off the car will flex just enough to make the top difficult to put on. Try loosening off the other bolts then putting that one in.
Try tightening that one first. Push hard on the top to get it started.
I tried putting the top on this way, but it wouldn't work. I took the bolt out of the top and just tried threading it in by itself, but it would only go in about two spins. I was able to successfully thread it all the way into the driver's side though.

I've tried tightening this one first because I had this issue in the past. You kind of have to get them all started before tightening them all the way down.
