Default Correct rad cap for 96 LT4?

I need to know which rad cap is correct for the 96 LT4 non Grand sport. Mine is currently polished SS. 2 well known parts houses list the Black cap as correct. But other 96 cars I check seem to have the polished SS cap. Does anyone know which one is correct?

I believe that the correct '96 cap is SS cap (as in the picture) with RC-36 stamped on it

Possibly referring to the black plastic cap for the white coolant recovery tank which is located at the front passenger side? The cooling system pressure cap should be metal (SS), the photo RollaMo-LT4 posted shows it pretty well.

Stock is SS as all the pics show. If you buy a GM replacement, the cap is black on the upper surface and SS (unpainted) around the side. The lettering is also silk-screened to stand out against the black.

Thank you, this detail is good to know. Hopefully I won’t be needing to order one in the near future.

FWIW, here's what the black GM replacement looks like. I have the original all SS cap in one of my tool boxes...
