Default Convertible Top

I just bought a 1995 Corvette Convertible. I cannot get the top back up. The passenger side releases but the driver side does not. Any suggestions

I'm guessing your talking about the deck cover? If you are it could be that the wire under the cover has come loose from that side. You should be able to feel under there and find out. Welcome to the Vette community. SAVE THE WAVE

Default Deck lid won't come up- Been there, done that

I have solved that problem on my 93.
First get the lid open- here's how. use a flashlight to look down where the latch is. You should see a black plastic lever that is your emergency release for that side (there's one on the other side as well). push it backwards and the lid will pop up (just that side. If the other side is working you're golden. I had both sides not working and needed a helper to hold one side ajar while I ran around to do the other side!!)

Now to fix the problem. You can use the manual release permanently if you have to. I did for several months. The cause is that the pull cable is out of adjustment. Pushing the release button activates two solenoids that pull on a wire that activates the latch release. Mine got stretched with age. I couldnt figure out how to adjust the length of the cable, so I took a small 'split ball' 3/16 fishing line weight and crimped it onto the wire past the point it goes through the latch.

Voila! problem solved. BTW I have the FSM and have never found any section on adjusting the length of the pull wire.

Anything that will act to shorten the cable will do. I also used a pair of aluminium washers that I had hacksawed halfway through and slipped over the cable and glued the washers together so that the slots were opposite each other.

Or you could go to the dealer and leave a few credit cards with him while you watch TV in the waiting room.

Good Luck!
