Cleaning Engine Compartment?

Cleaning Engine Compartment?
How do you guys (and/or) girls go about cleaning the engine compartment. I would like to get a nice cleaning down there, but I am afraid to just go and take it to a self-car wash type thing?

you can take it to a pressure wash, just dont douse the electrical stuff and dont directly spray the distributor

You have several options...if it is really dirty you can spray some engine cleaner (gunk?) in a can on and let it sit for a few minutes and then hose it off....making sure not to rinse off any of your electrical parts.....or you can just start wiping down..taking your time..using simple green, murphy's oil soap and WD40. Let the cleaning begin!! Good luck. :)

I use either WD-40 or Carb & Choke cleaner, a tooth brush, a wire brush, some Q-Tips. If you use a pressure washer, I think you are only supposed to use a certain kind of water but I can't think of the name right now.

Alot of elbow grease, simple green, rags and patience. Once its done its easy to keep clean. Heres mine, I wipe it down maybe once a month.:)
