Default negative battery cable

Hi all
I plan to replace the negative battery cable on my 86 tomorrow.
I know how to disconnect and remove the battery.
I cannot see where the cable connects to the car, can I do this operation from above, thru the battery opening once it is removed or do I need to go under the car?

Are there any special things to watch for? Will I have to reset anything beside the clock?

I searched for a thread on this subject but could not find one, so forgive me if there is one just direct me to it.

Thanks,
Jerry

The negative battery cable attaches to the side of the block above the oil filter with a large bolt. There are a bunch of other grounds under that same bolt -- all the engine sensors are grounded there. There is also a braided copper cable that connects to the frame. The bolt is not convenient to get to. I worked on mine while the exhaust was off (trans swap), so I don't have any tips.

If you have the C68 digital A/C controller then the inside temperature will have to be reset. You will lose all your radio station presets.
