Well I did complete the straight up trade, my 1994 corvette for a 1997 Cobra mustang. I am having very mixed feelings about it.
That being said here are some lessons I learned along the way;
All C4's will have weatherstripping issues. The standard 12 in front brakes underperform and know your car, the shop manuals are worth it, but nothing was as helpful as this forum!!!
It was a blast of a car to have and everyone should own a vette! Unfortunately 2 kids and a family and I just didnt have enough time to keep up on the maintanence.
If you are looking to buy a C4, dont buy a nice one that has repair records and a caring owner, it will be a better deal in the long run. I bought one that was middle of the road and was dealing with repairs that should have been done by the PO.
Am I still able to hang out here and make comments without a C4?
Again, thanks to all for your help along the way; Vendors Dr Don, ZF Doc, Vette2vette, mikes corvette in Burr Ridge, D &M Corvette in Downers Grove Illinois.
Yeah, C4's can be a love it/hate it all at the same time. They still perform pretty well if you don't run out of suspension. I have two newer cars and still really like to drive my 91.
Even the clean low mile ones nickel and dime you though.
as long as you're happy with the trade is all that matters. i can understand needing the extra space in a vehicle when you have kids. at least the stang has a back seat of sorts.
Well said, it can be a love hate relationship. It was tIme to move on. I already have (and knew about) an alternator/starter/battery problem. The good news is mustang parts are easy to find and most can be used from any 4.6. Plus I really wanted an obd II car. It makes it a little easier for me. I will miss my vette, but looking forward to a new experience with the cobra

I think you'll find most of us here at one time or another were Mustang owners, myself included. Nothing wrong with that, enjoy your car and stop by here anytime, ownership is not a requirement to be part of the forum.

Yup.. and will be in the future.. right now I'm thinking of another LS swap Either a 3rd gen F-body, Fox body or a Conquest. I would also love to do a Fiero or Monster Miata some day. I like cars I don't discriminate unles its a yugo

Had only two Fords - both 302's... 97 Explorer XLT and a 83 Thunderbird.
Fun times
You should rip the 32valve cobra motor and shove a LSX motor in it that way it will have some sack..... hahahah have fun with the Tang.... its sad to see you converted to the dark side.

Look at the bright side, at least he's not going foreign.
Hope the Mustang goes well for you and if I was going to get rid of my vette it would be for a Mustang. I think most guys here are just car guys and would still like to see you drop in and say Hi.
A friend of mine trade his stang for a 90 vette and that was the worse trade of all times. That vette is nothing short of a piece of crap(it looks really good)and has him looking to get rid of it now at a big loss. Sometimes it's better to own stang than a vette and that comes from someone that has loved vettes almost his entire life.

I think he didn't mean to include the word "don't". He was probably thinking "don't buy one that needs work" and changed it to "buy a nice one..." but the "don't" slipped in there.
