Pop out the shift pattern plastic piece in the shifter handle. There's a squarish metal key in the handle that locks the handle straight so it can't turn. Pull that piece straight up and out. Rotate the handle counter clockwise to unscrew and remove. Pull the reverse lockout straight up and off - watch the spring that's in it, mine fell into the linkage well and I had........ fun.
Note how the plastic collar on the boot is sort of pressed into place down fairly low on the shifter and get the new one popped on down low the same way before screwing the console back together.
