I'm not sure about the glass, but I bought a new needle from GM. If GM doesn't stock the glass, you may be able to have one made at a glass repair store. Gently pry the button out of the shift **** and remove the snap ring and the shift **** will slid off. There are 2 screws in the console under the felt. You have to remove the console door. The console plate will lift off to access the glass and needle.
On mine, a screw was left out (or fell out) and caused the needle not to track right and it finally broke.
What got to me was this ststement... "We may be new to eBay, but we are not new to providing the best quality Corvette Parts at the best price." ...Best price for whom? What do they think they have there a new 4+3 Plate for an 84?
Hey is there anyone that will restore these things? I took the tech advice of LARS in Colorado and repainted mine. They turned out really good but there are really small spider crack / fissures around the screw holes. They don't seem "fillable" with filler.
Hey Mojo1 My dad bought a console for his 88 this past April from this company, The Last Detail. They do have quality stuff. However, they do really like their stuff. He paid $ 95 for his. The one he bought didnt have a shift boot with his though. I might be wrong, but I think they had just the console w/o the boot for $100 or $125. Like I said, could be wrong. They do have good stuff though.. They have ads in the magazines. Might want to give them a call and get their "real" price instead of their "Ebay" price.
I've been to TLD here in Atlanta, and they do have good stuff... all OEM. Another thing: they have the parts in stock!! I needed a radiator hose and a double sided serp belt, and they were the only ones that had them! None of the other mail order places had any in stock
If you want pretty pieces for your Vette, go to Mid America or the like. If you want pieces that make your Vette work, go to TLD. :yesnod:
I bought a new one from Jeff Kopp from Superior Chevrolet. It was less than half that price if I remember right. He's definitely got some great prices!
I bought a new dash bezel and the shift plate for less than that price. I however didn't need the shift boot and got $50 bucks off. I bought it from McJack's. All GM and I am not dissapointed in one bit, also they got me a new console lid for a steal. :D :D
