What is a good price when tinting the windows on a 1990 (white) corvette. Have one quote at like $165 and another person estimated like $145. Is this about right?(tinting the side and back glass)
Just a suggestion,
When you find the place you want to tint your windows, make sure they do the back glass all in one sheet. It looks cleaner and you'll have no seams.
Also, I have always had good luck with places that use the 3M tint. It may cost a a few dollars more, but 3M material is proven.
Make sure you get it done by someone that is good. Look at some of their cars. Prices will vary depending on where you live. Good installers will do the entire hatch area with one piece of tint. Also, make sure you don't stain it with the incorrect window cleaner.
I had mine done for $200 (yeah, its high, I live in VA). Rear window was done in 1 sheet, side windows came out perfectly, and for those that saw it on Tuesday night, it was very well done.
NOTE two problem areas on the back window. The strut attach points on the glass, make sure they cut around that area so in repeated opening and closing of the glass, the tint doesnt twist off and look nasty. When they did my back window, a heat gun was used to stretch the tint around the back areas. I was very impressed with the end result. :)
I don't know the actual price but I got a new head unit, alarm, and rear hatch tinted for $700. I do know that the tint took them 3 tries each with new film, and they finally got it on (in 1 piece). If I break it all up I think I payed about $100 for the tint, but done correctly is worth the money.

Re: Window tinting prices? (GCadby)
Got mine tinted at a local Specialists™ outlet the sides were like done in either 35% or 20% don't remember which(For legal issues I gotta play dumb:p:)LOL I think it must be 35% or more for light transmission on the sides here in AZ. Lifetime on em too with Formula1™ tint. The back was done with one sheet of Llumar™ film in 5%(Formula1's the best but it doesn't come in 5% thas why I think highest it comes is 20%) which is true limo tint(5%) and they did it through some type of miracle due to the hatch ***** they had to get around. The front was done with a legally done 5% strip like a visor shade for AZ law but the entire car still looks like it's all done in limo for some odd reason. Maybe the last owner already had custom glass put in? Anyway, it cost me around $125.00 or so for everything. That was done like 6 months ago. And it was all done professionally with not one single mar found to this day. You wanna make sure....anywhere you go..........that they do it right. That's the big kicker here. Especially the back cuz that's like impossible to do. I dunno how in the hell they do it to tell u the truth.......I tried it myself many many times and F-ed up big time before having it done. SO it's worth it to me ....by far.
