I noticed the right side of the dash is slightly dimmer than the left side. Hopefully, it's a bulb, what do you think. I thing there are 6 bulbs in the dash cluster.
My '85 has 4 bulbs; and the dim side you describe is a bulb out. Don't know if your later model C-4 is like mine, but they were not too hard to change. I just removed the tilt wheel lever, the instrument panel bezel, and there were 4 aluminum tabs with the bulbs behind them. The tabs gently pryed off and the bulbs pull straight out. A fellow Forum member told me how to change 'em, and another told me to be sure to change all 4 at the same time, as if you only change one, the next one will go out as soon as you get the screws tightened back up. I think one of the guys that helped me with the info. was 'Scorp', wish I could remember the handle of the other guy, but their advice was a great help to me. As I said, your's may be different from the '85, but at least it's a place to start.
OH YEAH: I went to 4 different parts places before I found bulbs that would fit! Most of them were too long to get the tabs back on. I Finally found replacement bulbs at WALMART automotive dept. Be prepared, as they are halogen and cost about $7 a piece.
dan :D
it has 4 bulbs, replace all of them, part is called Sylvania 882
remove the dash bezel (the plastic piece covering it) and there will be 4 small silver circles, which you must twist and pull out of their grooves. The bulbs are underneath them, and you CANNOT touch the new bulbs when you put them in, finger oils cause them to get too hot and burn out quicker. Youll have to use some needlenose pliers or somthin to get em in
you could pull the ones in there with your fingers, as long as their not hot, i think thats what i did, gettin the new ones in without touching them is a real pain though
problem is theres not room in there for my fingers.... i think the bulbs were changed out with some that were the wrong size because they are way to big for me to just stick my fingers in there and pull them out.
Wrap some electrical tape on some long nose pliers. Then install without crushing or touching the new bulb. Oil from your skin kills these halogen bulbs.
