One of the first things I discovered from reading my owner's manual was that there was an accessory plug located in the console. I thought this was really great because on every other car I owned, when I wanted to add a cigarette lighter outlet for things like GPS's, etc. I always had to find a way to tap into another fuse or run a wire into the dash from the car's battery. On this car, Corvette provides you with the wires and connection. I routed the accessory plug wires out from under the console trim and connected them to two 12 volt cig. lighter accessory plugs purchased from my local car parts store. I did not want to drill holes in my Vette to mount them, so I made a holder from a piece of sheet metal from my local Menard's. Cut it down so it was 6" wide at the top and 12" high with a curve to fit around the console better. (Got the idea from the double cup holder I purchased earlier for my Vette.) Then I covered it with sticky back felt from Walmart, added some U-shaped black plastic door edge guard trim from my local car parts store, and finally pop-riveted the accessory plugs on to it. To mount it, I simply pushed the narrow end down between the console and the seat mounting hardware and slipped it under the edge of the console after raising it (the console) and bolting it back down again. The owner's manual tells you how to do this on page 2-62. Works like a charm and no holes were drilled into my Vette. (see attached pictures) Next I plan to replace the white wire holder with a black one, the next time I get to the big city (I live in a rural area and my town is only 350 people.) and cover the wires with plastic wire channel or heat shrink tubing. (I am currently covering the wires with the cut off thumb from one of my wife's old knit gloves.) I retired last year and find my older pre-owned Vette, which I just purchased a month ago, a very enjoyable part of my retirement. Incidently, my wife kept working for another year just so she could buy me a new car and the used Vette. It must be love! And I am not talking the Vette, althought that is too.

My old '92 had two accessory leads under the center console; one was controlled by the ignition switch and the other was always hot. The single ground wire could be used with either hot lead.
The C5 had the first 12v accessory socket located in the console, but it also has two power leads that are located at the upper LH corner by the passenger side footwell fuse panel. The wires are the same as the later C4's; one controlled by the ignition switch, the other always hot, and a ground wire.
IIRC the C4 leads had 10A fuses for each power wire.
