Hate this freaking thing.....
I have always wanted a Vette, ever since i was a little boy, i love the way they look, they rule, i love em.... but this is gonna be my last vette, its a pos and i hate it, i hate its lack of power, i hate the ride, and i hate the expensive parts the most.... once i get the little crap fixed and the tranny rebuilt i am selling it and gettin another 4thgen fbody.
i am not saying all vettes suck, just mine, and i am really frustrated right now. :mad

:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: Expensive parts? Try the $500 replacement muffler for my Mom's Mercedes!!! I don't think anything on a Vette is really that bad except for ZR1 stuff. What is wrong with yours? I know when it rains it pours usually when it comes to problems.

I have had my fair share of problems. The first month I had it the water pump went out. Month later It was hit in a parking lot and the 2 moths after that the radiator died. Soon to follow that the IAC valve died. I hear yah but I still love my baby and wouldnt trade her for the world. Thats something you have to know going into buying a used car. Hope you have better luck. Oh yeah just got into a wreck 2 weeks ago. :rolleyes:

im gettin frustrated with mine, well not really the car, more the place that built my rear end, If my new rear end I JUST put in is bad Im gonna go to the place that made it and start swingin lol

Trust me, your car doesn't have as many problems as mine. I LOVE mine when she works, which isn't often :rolleyes: . But, I still have her and it's been almost a year. Try and keep her, you will be glad you did

Dosent everybody go thru this phase with their vette. I know Ive dumped a good bit of money in mine, some because I had to, but most because I wanted to. Hang in there, it will only get better.:)

maybe it is the way I drive, but to be honest aside from a code problem that took a while to fix, and replacing the valveguide seals, i really haven't had problems. she runs like a champ. the things I have refreshed on her were purely because I wanted to, not that she needed them done. :confused:

dont like how it rides? try a town car, you have a world class handler, its supposed to ride like that. Want more power? juice it, problem solved low 13 second car, 600 bucks.

I am not going to mention how much I have spent on mine, because it makes me sick. But, I love my car and I wouldn't trade it for anything. :cheers:

thanks, i know its sposed to ride like crap, and i know the handling is friggin amazing, like the best handling car i have ever had. but i am a straight liner by trade, and i miss my 94 formula, so i want another 4thgen bird, oh well, dads gonna buy the vette from me anyways.,

if you want a drag car, get an early 90's 5.0, they're dirt cheap to work on can be easily made into a 12 second car. They handle like a bathtub and brakes are a little questionable, but if all your looking at is straight line performance..thats the way to go. The vettes independent rear isnt the best setup for drag racing.
Personally after owning an assortment of fbodies and another vette, even though this vettes a little down on power, i wouldnt trade its road holding ability for an extra hundred hp. Few cars can keep up when i enter the turns. What a fool i was when i thought my z28 handled well.

I've spent about $5500 on keeping my 86 going since I bought it two years ago. The major costs being new tires and an auto tranny rebuild. I like working on cars - it's a hobby, so I'm not really upset. A 15+ year old car with near 100k miles is going to require maintenance. I'm almost in a position to start doing the fun stuff - go fast mods. I guess it's all a matter of your going in expectations.

Parts are inexpensive compared to other cars I've tinkered with. Try keeping an old British sports car or a Porsche going.
