Being new to vettes can you guys tell me what vette magazines you read? Im sure none have a lot of c-4 info but im sure some are better then others. Thanks,Dennis
Corvette magazine is good, I am a charter subscriber. Vette magazine, ugh ! I canceled my subscription when they changed over from Corvette Fever mag. I just get tired of reading about 1000 hp vettes. Corvette Mag does the same thing, I know they need to sell mags at the newsstand but it gets old IMHO.
I have not found any magazines that are worthy of my Dollar either. I'm also worn thin reading about how many thousands of dollars some people pour into a supposedly streetable 850-1000 Hp Corvette. Give me a break! How many people are really interested in seeing an endless parade of those freak-mobiles? I get far better tips on real world stuff right here!
If you want C4 info, this is about it, right here.
The mass media are far too enamoured with the LSx engines. Reading those, you would think that the LSx was the first and only generation sbc.
That said, there's a reason for this. The LSx GenIII and Gen IV engines are great engines, and just about anybody wanting to swap engines wants to do so with some variant of the LS family, for good reason. I mean, the stock bottom end will support nearly if not more than 500hp. That, and it's alot easier to hit that mark. So, the C4's are just not getting the press coverage in the world of advertising dominated media.
Reading the forum is a million times better than any magazine and it;s free! Plus you can ask unlimited questions!
I had subscriptions to a couple of Vette mags, but got tired of the "put a super charger on to get 1000hp". Streetable my ***. Yeah you could drive it gingerly, but it useless power on the street. If you put the throttle down, there are no street tires that can hook up with that much power. As weel, there are not many articles on C1's through C4's and rare to see C5 stuff anymore. Seems like mostly supercharged, elaborately painted C6's. Kind of makes you want to buy a C6 and withdraw from your 401K and mortgage your property to the max to get one.
IMO, Corvette Magazine is worth the subscription price, and then some. Internet forums are great, but you wont find the sort of feature articles that regularly appear in Corvette Magazine. The historical articles alone make it worth the price. Pick up a copy at a newsstand, and see if you don't agree. It's written by adults, for adults. A quality publication, and I hope it survives in this increasingly digital era.

When I'm at the grocery store, I'll pick up a copy of "Vette" magazine once in a while. There's always some cool articles in there. This month has a '63 split window with an LS9 in it that is really impressive, for example. A couple months back they had a story about the C4 market place, but it wasn't exactly what I would call 'flattering'.
The only one out there that I think did a reasonably good job covering the C4, was "Corvette Fever". But, alas, it didn't survive the recession.
I was going to cancel my Vette Mag sccrip, but then they mentioned an employee recently buing a C4 and to expect some tech articles. I may re-up after all.
Corvette Magazine seems to make a point of including a feature article about each of the six generations in each month's edition. This is one of many reasons I like the publication. Check it out. I think you'll be impressed.
