While at the Roscoe Village Vette Show, I came across the following: The infamous LT4 Automatic. Here are the pics...:
The owner believes that it is the only one in existance. I believe he said he bought it from a GM Engineer. Hopefully Corvette Dave can help me with this one.. He said it runs strong, although he didn't quote any track times to me.
Back in 96 there was an article in one of the Corvette magazines about the one and only LT4 Auto Corvette that was built. I remember reading the article and it said that the car was built for a GM employee. In fact, as I recall, it was a CE. That car and the one in these photos are probably one and the same.
One thing that is odd is that the reason GM only offered the LT4 with the 6 speed is because they did not want to go through the trouble and expense of cafe-certifying the one-year motor with two different trannys, so they only certified it with the manual. Given that, I wonder how GM was able to legally sell this car.
Do plan to be at Quaker Steak for Stars and Stripes. Our club is the putting it on there. We will have an area to wash the cars if the owner would like as they come in.
Was an LT1. The motor was built to LT4 specs. Work done by a couple of engineers from the factory. Had to use racing stall converter to handle motor and the stock automatic transmission. Runs strong, have not had opportunity to run on the track for times.

How high of a stall is it? I can imagine it would pack quite the punch if it's dialed in right.
I hit 12.74 with my stock LT4 coupe. I'm thinking you could blow that away if you can get out of the hole without smoking your tire like I do in my signature.
