I would like to plan a trip to BG in may when all the c-4 meet. Its a 745 mile trip for me, I need to plan a budget for this. My car is a 90 vert. what extra parts/tools should I carry? The only thing that has not been replaced so far is my fuel pump, and I already have a new one on the shelf in the garage. Money is always tight so when I get a little extra car money I buy a new part and put it on the shelf.
Anybody going from central florida? I know its early but myself I have to plan for a trip.
Hotels, food, ect.
I always carry a craftsman tool set with pliers and screwdrivers tossed in, upper and lower rad hose, serp belt, gal antifreeze, electrical tape, duct tape, few lengths of random rubber hose sizes, blanket, and road side card of your choice.
I'm in NGA/WNC. Would love to meet up on the way through.
I plan on going up on May 15th. I never carry anything (except a can of fix-a-flat), but then again, I always go over my car with a fine toothed comb before I hit the road. Have a safe trip up!
I would love to go, but that's a 1,920 one way trip for me! One of these days I'll make it, but were going back to Hawaii for our 25th Anniversary in May.
If you would like to save money on a place to stay, may I recommend the Bryce Inn. They are 10 miles from the exit to the NCM but well worth the drive. The owner, Bob & Jackie Lighfoot are Corvette owners and will do everything to make your stay a pleasure. Last time we were there, they broke out the wash bucket, hose and cookies!

There is a nice article in the current Vette magazine about a guy who flew from Detroit to the Seattle area and drove his new, high miles 90 back home. He had absolutely no trouble.
If I recall correctly he did bring a couple of fuel pump relays as they are known to blow from time to time.
Make sure you have the proper amount of air in your spare tire. Make sure you have your jack/handle/wheel lock thingy. Replace your radiator hoses with new. Flush/fill your radiator. Clean the crud out of the space between your radiator and AC compressor.
I have done the fly and drive on 3 different C4s over the years. Made it home to Michigan from Houston, Atlanta and North Carolina. Had a windshield wiper come off in the rain and dark of W Virginia. That was the only problem I ever had.
Enjoy the trip and take lots of pics!
In fact, PM me your mailing address and I will mail you the magazine as it will give you some piece of mind and it is a great story.

I bring a "kit" with me; 3/8 drive socket set, a 1/4" socket set, screw drivers, wrenches, hose clamps, duct tape, RTV, etc. cuz ya never know if a Brother is going to have to fix something. I've been to BG 3 times and every time there was someone that needed to tweak something.
BG fixes last year (drag racing)
Broken spindle. Replaced at the track
Broken alternator. Replaced in the hotel parking lot.
I might not break anything, but it's always better to have tools an not need 'em than need 'em and not have 'em!! B'sides...SOMEONE will need something, almost a certainty!
I'm going to try to get my C4 a little roided (ie, get around to installing my headers, and x pipe, and get my heads ported maybe if I can swing it, some intake runners and a lower manifod) up before then and take a trip out there.
As I live in western NC this shouldn't be too far out of the way. Just going to make sure I have tools, in the hatch just incase.
Do you park your vette in the winter or do you keep drivin her till it snows? (I drive mine!. Live just outside of Morganton)
There's quite a few other C4s and about 5 or 6 C6s that I know about around here. We're all vette crazy in NC I think.
All of my vehicles are kept in tip top shape in a heated garage. Back in November at the Vets for Vets event at BG, I watched my alternator slowly die during the parade. At least it didn't die and I made it to O'reilly's on 31W. I changed it in the parking lot. After 44 years of Corvette ownership, I can promise you one thing. If it is man made it will quit working sooner or later. Have fun and don't worry about it.
